چکیده

We report the peculiar interaction of two type III bursts observed in the solar wind. As electron beams propagating on the same magnetic field lines cross, a spectacular depletion of the type III radio emission is observed. We combine observations from the WAVES experiment on board the STEREO mission together with kinetic plasma simulations to study the extinction of type III radio emission resulting from the interaction between two electron beams. The remote observations enable to follow the electron beams in the interplanetary medium and show that the level of radiated radio waves is recovered after the beam crossing. The in situ observations of beam-driven Langmuir waves give evidence for Langmuir decay. The density fluctuations are extracted from in situ observations. The velocity of the beams is independently evaluated from in situ observations of decaying Langmuir waves and remote radio observations. The kinetic simulations show that the level of beam-driven Langmuir waves is reduced as the two beams cross. We show that the slow beam induced a strong reduction of the quasilinear relaxation of the fast beam, limiting the amplitude of the generated Langmuir waves. Moreover, in the case of two electron beams, the lack of Langmuir wave coherence reduces the efficiency of the Langmuir parametric decay. We thus conclude that the observed depletion of the type III radio emission is independent of the radio emission mechanism, as long as it depends on the Langmuir amplitude and coherence.

An assessment of the Photon Contamination due to Bremsstrahlung Radiation in the Electron Beams of a NEPTUN 10PC Linac using a Monte Carlo Method

Introduction: In clinical electron beams, most of bremsstrahlung radiation is produced by various linac head structures. This bremsstrahlung radiation dose is influenced by the geometry and construction of every component of the linac treatment head structures. Thus, it can be expected that the amount of the contaminated photon dose due to bremsstrahlung radiation varies among different linacs,...

Solar Flare Electron Acceleration: Comparing Theories and Observations

A popular scenario for electron acceleration in solar flares is transit-time damping of low-frequency MHD waves excited by reconnection and its outflows. The scenario requires several processes in sequence to yield energetic electrons of the observed large number. Until now there was very little evidence for this scenario, as it is even not clear where the flare energy is released. RHESSI measu...

Radio Emission of Solar Flare Particle Acceleration

The solar corona is a very dynamic plasma on time scales of decades to a few milliseconds. Radio missions provide diagnostic tools particularly suited for the analysis of non-thermal electron distributions, enhanced levels of various kinds of plasma waves and plasma phenomena related to electron acceleration in flares. Very intense coherent emissions are observed at frequencies below about 3GHz...

The inhibition performances of nafcillin (III), methicillin (II) and penicillin G (I) on the corrosion of copper in HCl was studied and tested by weight loss, Tafel polarization, SEM, UV-vis spectrophotometry, molecular dynamics method and quantum chemical calculations. Polarization curves indicated that the studied inhibitors act as mixed-type inhibitors. The values of inhibition efficiency an...
